- Lean Principles
- The five-step thought process for guiding the implementation of lean techniques are easy to remember, but not always easy to achieve:
- * Specify value from the standpoint of the end customer by product family.
- * Identify all the steps in the value stream for each product family, eliminating whenever possible those steps that do not create value.
- * Make the value-creating steps occur in tight sequence so the product will flow smoothly toward the customer.
- * As flow is introduced, let customers pull value from the next upstream activity.
- * As value is specified, value streams are identified, wasted steps are removed, and flow and pull are introduced, begin the process again and continue it until a state of perfection is reached in which perfect value is created with no waste.
- Six Sigma
- At its core, Six Sigma revolves around a few key concepts.
- * Critical to Quality: Attributes most important to the customer
- * Defect: Failing to deliver what the customer wants
- * Process Capability: What your process can deliver
- * Variation: What the customer sees and feels
- * Stable Operations: Ensuring consistent, predictable processes to improve what the customer sees and feels
- * Design for Six Sigma: Designing to meet customer needs and process capability
- LEED Certification from the USGBC
- LEED certified buildings provide healthier work and living environments, which contributes to higher productivity and improved employee health and comfort. Benefits of implementing a LEED strategy range from improving air and water quality to reducing solid waste, benefiting owners, occupiers, and society as a whole.
- LEED was created by the USGBC to accomplish the following:
- * Define "green" by establishing a common standard of measurement
- * Promote integrated, whole-building design practices
- * Recognize environmental leadership in the building industry
- * Stimulate competition in sustainability
- * Raise consumer awareness of environmental benefits
- * Transform the energy and building market
